Pass it Forward Project
Prior to the world coming to standstill due to the COVID-19 pandemic, I was elected as the Promotions Director on the board of directors for the Austin Gay Flag Football League in spring/summer of 2020. As the virus began to spread and forced all social activities to cease, I felt compelled to take action and demonstrate our unity as a league during this period of isolation.
Over the span of 3.5 months, I carefully coordinated with 25 league members to participate in a video project for the ATXGFL. Aiming to also showcase the city of Austin, this undertaking involved coordinating with each of the 25 individuals for two separate shots: one at their homes and another at a location representing Austin. Considering the circumstances, it required meticulous planning and adherence to safety measures to meet with each of them. Nonetheless, all necessary precautions were taken by both parties.
The final product continues to bring me joy whenever I watch it. It commences with a news report highlighting the grim reality our nation faced with COVID-19 and the racial justice protests sparked by the murders of George Floyd and Briana Taylor. This sets the scene with visuals of deserted and empty streets in Austin, before transitioning to our league members engaging in what everyone else was doing—simply staying home. The video progresses with each member "passing forward" the football from one shot to another, showcasing the city's culture, landmarks, and picturesque scenery. It concludes with a message of hope: "Together we can change the world one heart at a time."

Thank you to all of my friends/league members who participated in this project. I hope you enjoy the “Togetherness” this video brings.
